Plants Have Needs

Plants are organisms that impact our everyday lives! In fact, we can thank plants for our food, clean water, energy, the very air we breath and more! Plants have so much to offer to us as humans, they offer keys to everyday problems, and perhaps our future! Because plants are such an essential member of our planet earth, young children need to learn about their needs and how to care for them.

Plants are living things, and because they are alive, they have basic needs to allow for growth and survival. What are those essentials required for plant life? Water, air, sunlight, nutrients, space, and safety.

Help your students learn about these important life-sustaining requirements using developmentally appropriate hands-on lessons. This lesson packet has everything you need to incorporate the Next Generation Science Standard K-LS1-1 Plants Have Needs, in your classroom. This packet reaches across the curriculum into math, language arts, music, and art.

Be sure to add quality books to complement the lessons. Here are a couple favorites with my Amazon Links.

Help your young children learn about responsibility for the plants around them and expand natural curiosity for the world in which they live.
